Saturday morning, October 21st, 2023. I slept on the couch the night before because Christina asked me to since she was up coughing most of the last two nights. She woke me up around 5:00am to tell me her mom was taking her to the ER for a breathing treatment (something we had actually become used to at this point).
I didn’t even get up. I told her I loved her, said a quick prayer, and went back to bed. I was honestly at peace that I would see her home by noon.
But that would be the start to a whirlwind that would have her unconscious by the evening and with the Lord by Monday. I wrote the full story on another blog post here:

The reason for this post today is simple though. I wanted to encourage you. I don’t care if it’s a total pastor move, but life is short. You never know when that last moment with someone you love is. You never know when that last moment of your own life is.
With this truth, I have two things I want you to know:
1. Get your eternity figured out.
I know Christina is with Jesus. The reason I have that assurance is she trusted Jesus for forgiveness of sins and salvation from death to eternal life.
She isn’t in heaven cause she went to church or was generally good. I’m sorry to break this news to you if you weren’t sure about a loved one truly trusting in the saving grace of Jesus. I don’t share that to be a jerk, but I share that for you, who is still here. You can make the decision to truly ask Jesus to forgive your sin and save you from death to life. Being “good” doesn’t save you, but God’s goodness through Christ does.
2. Love fiercely.
Whoever you have that is still here is worth your everything. Make the effort. Work hard. Love fiercely. Every moment left is a gift that some of us don’t have anymore. Treat it as one and I can bet that relationship will change to even better. Don’t let selfishness and apathy creep in. Give give give with gratefulness to God for the time!
Blessings. Thank you for praying for me. Especially this week.
